Afternoon, squeezing in a game of Zelda?

Giant Realm - Stuff Guys Need

Content in Motion Plucking at the Heartstrings

  • I’ve been in a very nostalgic mood lately.

With the announcement that Street Fighter is turning 25 come August  I’ve been preoccupied not only with how surprising old I’ve become but a desire to consume any online special on the gaming franchise behemoth I can find. And, apparently I’m not alone because gamer nostalgia is at an all time high. From great gaming properties like Giant Realm's RetroWareTV serving up specials on games from when boys were boys and 8 bits were all you needed. To people willing to go to their friend’s house, literally sit right next to them, and play games that, e-GAD, aren’t even in Full 1080p!!! While our parents had Ringo, Hendrix and the Bee Gees we’ve got Ryu, Mario and Little Mac. Specials are popping up and grizzled gamers that understand the follies of sprite overload and the blow-technique are eating them up.

Apparently, internet users across the board are consuming more and more video content. In a recent Burst research report 7-in-10 online users watch video content in any given week, 4-in-5 double task and surf while they watch TV, and almost 20% say they have taken action based on what they saw in an online video advertisement. No one ever wants to be a statistic but my library of downloaded classic games is directly related to how nostalgic online videos like this make me feel.
